The Age Group Program

The CSSC Age Group program does not set out to teach youngsters how to swim. They are expected to swim well enough to be safe in the water before they join CSSC. CSSC coaches teach young swimmers to swim well in an expert, safe, caring and fun manner. If swimming is not fun, it is not anything a child will want to do.

Age Group is divided into "Colors." Placement is determined by the coaches. A child's physical age, emotional age, ability and desire are all taken into account when a child is placed initially and when he or she is moved into the next group.

CSSC coaches don't believe in "social promotion." Kids move up to a more demanding group when their ability and attitude warrant it, not because all their friends have moved on.

It takes special people to keep children happy in this kind of merit based system. Fortunately, CSSC has a group of very special people who happen to be fine coaches.

The Mullins Park Program

Mullins Park is "home" to most of our younger swimmers. Please Note practice times vary somewhat from season to season.

Gold Group

Gold Group

Offered four days per week

6:15 Dryland
6:30pm to 7:30pm
Monday - Thursday

Swimmers in Gold already have a good foundation in swimming technique. Refinement technique is the focus of practice.  We address improvements in stroke technique in a much more detailed way.

To build endurance, Gold swims more yardage. In addition, Gold swimmers strive to develop strong starts, turns and finishes.

We add more advanced plyometrics to our dryland warm-up and exercise routine.

The Coral Springs Aquatic Complex Program

Older Age Group swimmers join the "big kids" at the City of Coral Springs Aquatic Complex. Coaches Bruno puts them through their paces. Practices become more serious and more rigorous while the kids decide where swimming fits into their lives.

White Group

Six days per week

3:45pm to 5:15pm
Monday - Friday

7:30am - 9:15am Saturday

This group's emphasis is on specific technique training three days a week incorporated with interval and endurance training. We swim on average 3000 yards a day, increasing or decreasing yardage depending on where we are in the season. Practices are challenging but the group dynamic makes it fun and interesting.

Practices include small daily meetings and start with 15 minutes of stretching. Once a month there is a long timed swim and twice a month is a "fun practice" with relays games and diving. We swim at least one meet a month. Many swimmers are extremely competitive making A and AA time standards and also striving to make the Florida Gold Coast top 16 list.

Blue Group

9:15am - 11:30am Saturday

Dry land exercise and race strategy are included in the workout plan as well as 20-30 minutes of stretching and dry land exercise
