CSSC Club Records - The Rules Because we are a local age group club and an internationally competitive club with members who sometimes train here year round only to go "home" to compete in their country's or continent's championships, determining when a swim can be considered a club record can sometimes take a little thought. For a swim to count as a record of the Coral Springs Swim Club, the swimmer must be an active member of the club at the time of the swim. The swims must conform to USA Swimming or FINA rules. Swims made by an active CSSC swimmer as part of an "all star" team count as CSSC records. For instance, swims at Zones or as a representative for one's country at the Olympics, Commonwealth or Pan-American games count as club records as long as the swimmer is an active member of CSSC at the time of the swim. Swims made while swimming "unattached" because of FGC, USA Swimming or FINA regulations can be considered for club records as long as the swimmer is an active CSSC member at the time of the swim. Records made while representing another club or a college team, for instance, don't count as club records even if the swimmer is a CSSC member. Despite having a paid up CSSC membership, that swimmer is "active" with the other team at the time of the swim. The only exception to this rule: swims made by active CSSC swimmers during high school championship rounds where the swims are observed to conform to USA Swimming rules can count as club records. The nature of high school competition with the shared season, facilities and even coaches makes this reasonable. This means that some club records would not be eligible to be Florida Gold Coast or USA Swimming records while some or our active swimmers' best swims may not count as club records. |
